Jekyll Island, GA

Forgot to post about this, it was super interesting so I am going back to it.

Jekyll Island is off the coast of Georgia, south of Savannah. During the late 1800s and early 1900s  it was kept as a private island for the very wealthy to get away from the cold northern states during the winter.  Names such as Rockefeller and Macy built "cottages" here.  There is a large building called the Jekyll Island Club which was the main meeting place.  During WWII the state of Georgia forced everyone to evacuate the island because they feared that it would be an easy target for the enemy.  After the war, the state of Georgia decided to purchase the island and the houses and make the island into a State Park, which it remains today.

Two notable things on the island are the beautiful homes and driftwood beach.
During low tide, there is an area where all kinds of trees and branches become visible.
