Visited Steamtown National Historical Site, in Scranton, PA. Home of a restored, working roundhouse. It was pretty cool to see all the trains and the turntable that they used to move them around. They even have a workshop where you can observe while they restore and maintain old engines and train cars. A must-see stop for any train enthusiast.
Turntable, used to place each engine or car into the selected work bay. |
U.S. Mail car, the workers in this car would collect the mail and sort it as they continued down the track. |
Engine in the work area. |
